Direct answer: The Walk In Tubs Arizona Fit Check asks whether you can sit and stand on your own, whether you can step over a few inches, whether you like to soak and who uses the bathroom, then checks your space and doorway sizes. It suggests a walk-in tub, a roll-in shower or a low-threshold shower as a starting point. An Aging Safely Baths specialist can confirm the exact model with a free measurement and written quote.

Before you shop

A quick way to see what fits your body and your bathroom

The right bathing setup depends on two things: how you move and how much space you have. Brochures skip both. This Fit Check asks about each in plain terms and gives you a starting point you can bring to any company, including ours.

Grab a tape measure if you have one. If you do not, answer the four questions anyway. You will still get a useful suggestion, and you can add the numbers later.

It works just as well if you are filling it out for a parent or a spouse. Answer the questions the way they bathe today, not the way they did a few years ago. Honest answers lead to a safer choice, and nothing you enter is saved or sent anywhere.

Tape-measure basics

How to measure your bathroom

You do not need to be handy. A tape measure, a pencil and a phone camera are enough. Ask someone to hold the other end of the tape if bending is hard.

  1. Measure the length. For a tub, measure along the back wall from one end wall to the other. Most standard tubs sit in a space about 60 inches long.
  2. Measure the width. Measure from the back wall to the outside edge of the current tub or shower. Many walk-in tubs are 26 to 32 inches wide.
  3. Measure in two places. Walls are rarely perfectly square. Measure near the floor and again about waist high, and write down the smaller number.
  4. Find the narrowest door. Walk the path from where a truck would park to the bathroom. Measure each doorway at its narrowest point, with the door open, and note any tight hallway turns.
  5. Take photos. Photograph the whole bathroom from the doorway, the tub or shower up close, the faucet wall and the path in. Photos answer questions numbers cannot.

Helpful extras to note

  • Which end the drain is on, left or right
  • Distance from the tub to the toilet and vanity
  • Whether the floor is a concrete slab or raised
  • Your height, and roughly your weight, for seat and size
  • Whether anyone uses a walker or wheelchair

Larger bodies may need a wider seat. See a guide to bariatric walk-in tub sizes.

Reading your result

What the results mean

Each result points to a type of product, not a specific model. Here is what each one means in everyday terms.

Walk-in tub

You can sit and stand from a chair-height seat and you want to soak. A walk-in tub has a watertight door, a built-in seat and grab bars. You still step over a low threshold, and you sit while it fills and drains.

Roll-in shower

You use a wheelchair or a rolling shower chair. A roll-in shower has a level, curbless entry so you can roll straight in, with a fold-down seat and a handheld shower.

Low-threshold or walk-in shower

Stepping is hard, or you prefer quick showers. A shower with a very low curb or none at all removes the step every tub door still has, and it is usually easier to keep clean.

Wide-door tub or tub-shower combo

You love to soak but standing up is harder. Ask about wider doors, a seat at chair height and grab bars placed on the side of your stronger hand.

Size notes are rough. A space of 58 inches or more usually fits a full-size tub or shower base. Under 48 inches is tight for most walk-in tubs. A doorway under 26 inches often calls for a shower kit that comes in panels. A free measurement confirms the real fit.

Arizona tips the tool will mention

In Arizona summers the cold line can run near 100 degrees, and hard water scales jets and heaters over time. A fast drain, air jets and a water softener help a tub last.

FAQ

Questions Arizona families ask

How accurate is the Fit Check?

It is a starting point based on the same questions our specialists ask first. It cannot see your plumbing, your floor or the turns in your hallway, so a free measurement or a photo review confirms the exact model before anything is ordered.

What if my measurements fall between two tub sizes?

Choose the smaller size in your mind for now and tell us both numbers. Walls are not always square, so we measure in more than one spot. Small differences can often be handled with trim or an extension panel.

Do I need to measure every door from the driveway to the bathroom?

Yes, if you can. A one-piece tub has to pass through every doorway and around every corner on the way in. The narrowest point on that path is the number that matters most.

Can I do the Fit Check for a parent who lives somewhere else?

Yes. Answer the questions the way your parent bathes today, and ask someone at the home to take the measurements and a few photos. Then call us together, so your parent hears the options too.

Does the Fit Check save my answers or send them to anyone?

No. The Fit Check runs in your web browser and does not send your answers anywhere. If you want a specialist to follow up, use the quote form or call 1-888-779-2284.
