Direct answer: Walk In Tubs Arizona, an Aging Safely Baths company, installs walk-in tubs and roll-in showers anywhere in Arizona with factory-certified installers, often in as little as one day once the product arrives. Arizona requires an ROC-licensed contractor for nearly every tub or shower job, so always ask for the license number and check it at roc.az.gov. Quotes are free and written.

Who does the work

Factory-certified installers, anywhere in Arizona

A walk-in tub is only as good as its install. The door has to seal, the floor has to be level, the drain has to line up and any jets or heaters need safe power. That is why our installs are done by factory-certified installers trained on the exact tubs and showers we carry. Learn how that training works on the factory-certified installer program page.

We install anywhere in Arizona, from the Phoenix metro and Tucson to Prescott, Flagstaff, Yuma and the small towns between. Many installs are done in as little as one day once the product arrives. Older plumbing, tile repair or wall changes can add time, and your written quote tells you that up front.

Prefer to hire your own contractor? We also offer supply-only delivery to your door.

  • Removal and haul-away of your old tub
  • Plumbing and drain connections

Before install day

How to get your home ready

A little prep makes the day go faster. We will remind you of each item a few days ahead.

  • Clear the bathroom of rugs, towels, shampoo and anything on the tub ledge.
  • Clear a path from the front door or garage to the bathroom.
  • Move fragile items off nearby shelves and walls.
  • Plan for pets to stay in a closed room or with a friend.
  • Make sure another toilet is available, or plan around the bathroom being out of use.
  • Tell us about any gate code, HOA rule or parking limit.

In a 55+ community? Many HOAs in places like Sun City, PebbleCreek and Sun Lakes have work-hour or contractor rules. Check with your HOA office before you book so the crew can get in on time.

Install day

What happens on install day, step by step

For a typical tub-for-tub swap, most of these steps happen in one visit.

  1. Arrival and walkthrough. The crew lays down floor protection and reviews the plan with you: tub position, door swing, grab bar spots and handheld shower height.
  2. Water and power off. They shut off water to the bathroom and power to any circuit they will work on.
  3. Old tub removal. The surround and old tub come out, usually in pieces, and go straight to the truck.
  4. Check the space. The crew inspects the floor, walls and plumbing. If they find hidden damage, they stop and talk with you first.
  5. Plumbing and drain. They adjust the drain and supply lines to fit the new tub or shower base.
  6. Electrical. If your tub has jets or a heater, they connect it to its dedicated, GFCI-protected circuit.
  7. Set and level. The new tub or base is set level so the door seals and water flows to the drain.
  8. Walls and trim. Wall panels, trim and sealant go on.
  9. Test. They fill the tub, run the jets and heater, and check the door and drain for leaks.
  10. Cleanup and lesson. The crew cleans up and shows you how to use every control, the cleaning cycle and the drain.

Arizona homes

Slab floors, older plumbing and power for jets

Slab-on-grade homes. Most Arizona houses sit on a concrete slab, so the tub drain runs through the concrete instead of a crawl space. A direct tub swap usually lines up with the existing drain. Moving the drain, or recessing a base for a curbless roll-in shower, can mean cutting and patching concrete. That is listed in your quote before work starts.

Older plumbing. Homes from earlier decades in central Phoenix, Tucson or older Prescott neighborhoods may have worn shut-off valves or older pipe. If a valve will not shut off cleanly or a fitting is corroded, the crew will tell you and explain the fix.

Electrical for jets and heaters. Tubs with air jets, water jets or an inline heater usually need a dedicated circuit with GFCI protection, which cuts power fast if it senses a fault near water. If your electrical panel has no open space, a licensed electrician may need to add room. A plain soaker walk-in tub needs no power at all.

Dedicated circuit

One circuit just for the tub, so nothing else shares its load.

GFCI protection

Shuts off power quickly if there is a fault near water.

Panel space

We ask about your panel early so there are no surprises.

Licensing and permits

Arizona ROC licensing, and how to check any installer

The Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) requires a licensed contractor for nearly every tub or shower installation. The only exception is a minor job under $1,000 in total labor and materials that needs no permit, and splitting a bigger job into small pieces to stay under that limit is not allowed.

Checking takes about a minute. Ask any installer, including ours, for the ROC license number. Then enter it at the ROC website and confirm the license is active, the business name matches, and the license type fits the work. Our guide to checking an Arizona contractor license shows each step.

Permits depend on your city or county. Plumbing changes and new electrical circuits are the usual triggers. Your written quote says who handles any permit your city requires.

Keep a simple file for the job: the written quote, the license number, any permit, the warranty papers and the model number of your tub or shower. If you ever need service, sell the house or apply for a grant, it is all in one place.

Ask for the ROC license number, check it online, and keep a copy with your written quote.

Scheduling

Rural and northern Arizona, and snowbird timing

Northern Arizona

For Prescott, Flagstaff and the high country, winter weather can shift a date. We schedule with that in mind. See our Prescott and northern Arizona page.

Rural towns

Remote addresses may take longer to schedule and can add travel time to the quote. We tell you both up front.

Winter visitors

FAQ

Installation day, answered

Do I need to be home during the installation?

Someone should be home at the start to let the crew in and confirm the plan, and at the end for the walkthrough. You do not need to watch the whole day. Many people rest in another room or step out for a few hours.

When can I take my first bath after installation?

Sealants and caulk need time to cure before the tub is filled. Your installer will tell you exactly when it is safe, and for many installs that is the next day. Use another bathroom or a sponge bath until then.

What happens to my old bathtub?

The crew takes out the old tub and hauls it away as part of the job, along with packaging and debris. If you want to keep anything, such as a shower door or fixtures, tell us before install day.

What if the installer finds water damage behind the wall?

It happens in older homes. The crew stops, shows you what they found and explains the fix and the cost before doing any extra work. Nothing extra is added without your OK.

Does a walk-in tub install need a city permit in Arizona?

Some cities and counties require a permit, especially when plumbing or electrical work is added. Rules vary by town. Your written quote says who handles any permit your city requires.

Can you install while I am out of state for part of the year?

Yes, if someone you trust can let the crew in and do the walkthrough. Many winter visitors schedule around their travel. Delivery and install dates are set in writing so you can plan.
