Mesa, Apache Junction & Gold Canyon
Walk-in tubs that fit East Valley homes, big or small.
From a Leisure World patio home to a park model in Apache Junction, we help you find a tub or shower that fits the space you really have.
Direct answer: Walk In Tubs Arizona, an Aging Safely Baths company, installs walk-in tubs and roll-in showers across Mesa and the East Valley, including Leisure World, Apache Junction and Gold Canyon, often in as little as one day. Manufactured and park-model homes often need a compact tub or a shower kit, so we measure first. Quotes are free and written, with no in-home sales pitch. Call 1-888-779-2284.
The East Valley
Mesa's homes come in every shape, so we start with a tape measure
Drive east on the US 60 from Mesa toward the Superstition Mountains and you pass almost every kind of home Arizona has. Block ranch houses on quiet Mesa streets. Patio homes and golf-course homes in Leisure World. Manufactured home communities and RV resorts along Main Street and in Apache Junction. Newer custom homes tucked into the hills of Gold Canyon.
That variety is why a one-size sales pitch does not work here. A full-size walk-in tub that slides easily into a Mesa ranch home might not fit through the door of a park model. A tub that fits might be too heavy for the floor. So before we talk models, we ask about your home.
Many people here are winter visitors who spend the season in the East Valley, roughly November to April, and go home to the Midwest or Canada in summer. Others live here all year. Both groups ask us the same thing: what will actually fit in my bathroom?
Home type matters
Three kinds of East Valley homes, three different jobs
Find your home below. It tells you what to measure and what to ask.
| Home type | What usually fits | What to check first |
|---|---|---|
| Site-built homes in Mesa, Leisure World and Gold Canyon | A standard walk-in tub in the 60-inch tub space, or a full roll-in shower | Hall width, door width and the age of the plumbing |
| Manufactured homes | A standard or compact walk-in tub, or a shower kit in panels | Floor support under the tub, water heater size, access to pipes from below |
| Park-model and RV-style homes | A compact walk-in tub around 48 to 53 inches long, or a low-threshold shower | Bathroom size, door width, water heater size, park rules |
Manufactured & park-model homes
What makes a smaller home different
The floor. A walk-in tub filled with water and a person is heavy, and all that weight sits on a small patch of floor. Site-built homes usually handle it fine. In a manufactured home, the floor may need extra support under the tub. That is a normal part of the job, and we tell you in your quote if it is needed.
The door. Many walk-in tubs are 26 to 32 inches wide. Manufactured and park-model homes often have narrower interior doors and tight turns. Measure every doorway between your front door and the bathroom, not just the bathroom door.
The hot water. Smaller homes often have smaller water heaters. A deep soak takes a lot of hot water, and you do not want it running cool halfway through the fill. If your tank is small, a shower might serve you better, or a water heater upgrade might be part of the plan.
The pipes. In a manufactured home, the plumbing is usually reached from underneath. Installers may need to open the skirting. Let us know if anything is stored under the home.
Ask about compact options. Compact walk-in tubs, around 48 to 53 inches long, and small shower kits are made for tight bathrooms. They still have a seat, grab bars and a low step. Call 1-888-779-2284 or take the two-minute Fit Check to see if one fits your space.
Measure with us
Five measurements that save you a headache
- The space where the tub or shower goes now. Length, width and the height of any wall above it.
- Every doorway on the way in. Measure the clear opening with the door fully open.
- Tight turns. Note any hallway corner where a long box would have to turn.
- The water heater. Look at the label on the tank for its size, and snap a photo.
- Photos of the bathroom. One from the doorway, one of the tub or shower, one of the faucet wall.
Send those to us and you get a written quote without anyone sitting at your kitchen table. If a visit makes more sense, we can do that too.
55+ communities
Leisure World and East Valley parks have their own rules
Leisure World in Mesa and many East Valley 55+ communities and RV resorts set rules for contractors. These may cover work hours, where trucks can park, where the old tub goes and whether the office needs a copy of the contractor's license and insurance.
A quick call to your community office or park manager before install day avoids surprises. Our installers hold Arizona ROC licenses, and you can look up any license on the Registrar of Contractors website.
Larger bodies
Room to sit comfortably
Some people need a wider seat and a wider door to bathe safely and with dignity. We carry wider, higher-capacity bariatric walk-in tubs built for that. They need more floor space, so in a smaller East Valley home, measuring first is extra important.
Winter visitors
Planning around the season
Book early
Fall is a good time to plan. Measuring and ordering take time, and you want the tub in before you need it.
Install while you are away
A neighbor or family member can let installers in, and we walk you through the controls by phone when you return.
Or ship it supply-only
Have a contractor you trust? We can deliver to your East Valley home on a date that suits you.
Our snowbird timing guide explains how to plan an install around a seasonal stay. For delivery details, see supply-only delivery in Arizona.
Tub or shower
When a roll-in shower is the smarter choice
In a small bathroom, the best fit is often no tub at all. A roll-in shower with a low or zero threshold, a fold-down seat, grab bars and a handheld showerhead takes up the same footprint as your old shower. It is also easier if you use a walker, a wheelchair or a caregiver's help. Panel kits from Bestbath, made in the USA, and ANZZI carry in through small doors in pieces.
Cost
What to expect to pay
Your free written quote shows every cost up front. Floor support or a water heater upgrade adds to the job, and your written quote lists each item. Read more about walk-in tub cost in Arizona. Live a little farther south? See our Chandler and Gilbert page.
FAQ
Mesa and East Valley questions
Can a walk-in tub go in a manufactured home in Mesa or Apache Junction?
Often, yes, but it takes more planning than a site-built home. A filled walk-in tub is heavy, so the floor under it may need extra support. We also check the doorway, the water heater size and how plumbing is reached from under the home.
What fits in a park-model or RV-style home bathroom?
Park-model bathrooms are usually small and many have a shower only. A compact walk-in tub, around 48 to 53 inches long, or a low-threshold shower kit with a fold-down seat is usually the best fit. Send us measurements and photos and we will tell you what can work.
My water heater is small. Will a walk-in tub work?
A walk-in tub uses more hot water than a quick shower, and a small tank can run out before the tub is full. Some people upgrade the water heater, and some choose a shower instead. We look at your tank size before we recommend a tub.
Do I need permission from Leisure World or my park to install a tub?
Many 55+ communities and parks have rules about contractors, work hours, parking and dumpsters. Call your community office or park manager before the install. If they want proof of license and insurance, we can provide it.
Can you schedule my install around when I am in Arizona for the winter?
Yes. Many East Valley winter visitors schedule installs early in the season, in fall, so the tub is ready for the months they are here. If you will be away, a family member or neighbor can let the installers in.
Do you carry wider walk-in tubs for larger bodies in the East Valley?
Yes. Bariatric walk-in tubs have a wider seat, a wider door and a higher weight capacity. They also need more floor space, so we measure your bathroom first to make sure one fits.
